The new year is no longer new and so may be your weight loss goals, but it is never too late to reignite the excitement again about your weight loss program. To lose weight in a healthy manner you need to have a balanced and healthy diet along with regular exercise. Here are some tips to help you get back into shape this year and lose some weight.
Set Achievable Goals
When you have a goal to lose a bunch of weight, for example, 30 pounds, you might want to lose it as fast as possible. However, this is not healthy, so when you start a weight loss journey, make some realistic goals that are achievable and won't leave you frustrated when you don't meet them.
To help you lose weight in a healthy manner, you should look to lose one to two pounds each week. This type of weight loss is not extreme and is not hard on your body, which will help you keep it off once you reach your final weight loss goal.
Choose a Workout Partner
Another good way to keep you on track, motivated, and continuing on your progress toward your weight and health goals, is to select someone to help you as a workout buddy. This person can be on a similar weight loss goal, and help motivate you while you help motivate them.
For example, when you need to get up early in the morning for your workout, your workout partner will help hold you accountable and make sure you show up for your planned workouts. If you only workout by yourself and decide to skip out on your morning exercise, it is easier to do so when there is not someone waiting for you at the gym or the park running track, for example. And it is enjoyable to have someone to socialize with while you exercise and get in shape.
Join an Exercise Class
A fun and motivating way to exercise is to participate in it with an entire exercise class. The energy that the entire class creates during the workouts can help keep you motivated and energized to put more effort into the workout than if you were to do it by yourself. And when you have a trained teacher leading the class who can give you suggestions for improvements, it makes the class even better.
Check with a local gym to find out their schedule of group exercise classes and the types that are available. You may find there are classes, such as step aerobics, yoga, Pilates, jazzercise, and a variety of other fun and health-promoting classes.
